World Diabetes Day
The Diabetes Day campaign took a practical, prevention focused approach. Students facilitated interactive sessions designed to help community members understand the risk factors associated with diabetes, the role of healthy dietary habits, and the importance of routine health screening. The campaign reinforced a timely message: non communicable diseases such as diabetes are largely preventable when communities are equipped with the right knowledge and tools.
The activity included an awareness lecture delivered by Dr. Ahmed Salem Qaitoon, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist and Director of Sultan Qaboos Hospital, who discussed the causes of the disease and methods of prevention. This was followed by a variety of student-led activities, such as blood glucose level testing, awareness campaigns, and educational competitions aimed at enhancing community health awareness.
