DU College of Medicine Welcomes Its Second Cohort of Medical Students

Dhofar University College of Medicine (DUCM) welcomed its second cohort of medical students with an Orientation Day designed to introduce them to the College, its educational philosophy, and the professional journey ahead. The program opened with a welcoming address by the Dean, followed by an introduction to the MD curriculum and its Team-Based Learning (TBL) educational strategy. Students also attended an inspirational session exploring the calling and responsibilities of becoming a doctor, emphasizing the values, commitment, and sense of purpose inherent in the medical profession. A dedicated session entitled “You Are Not Alone” introduced students to the academic support available throughout their studies, emphasizing that guidance, mentorship, and assistance will remain accessible throughout their educational journey. The program was concluded with an address by the Director General of the Dhofar Health Service Directorate, who provided students with perspectives on their future clinical practice, the healthcare services they will be expected to provide, and the career opportunities that lie ahead. The day marked an important beginning for the new cohort as they embark on their medical education and their journey to becoming future physicians.
