Blood Disorders Awareness Campaign

Blood Disorders Awareness Campaign

The Blood Disorders Awareness Campaign was characterized by broad and impactful collaboration among participating stakeholders. The Medical Student Community of Oman (MEDSCO) joined as a key speaker, with its representatives delivering a keynote address on the growing role of medical students in national health promotion. The session highlighted the value of peer-led education and inter-institutional cooperation in advancing Oman’s public health priorities.
Adding clinical depth to the event, a specialized delegation from Sultan Qaboos Hospital delivered a dedicated lecture on common blood disorders, including iron deficiency anemia, sickle cell disease, thalassemia and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, conditions of particular relevance to the region. Attendees gained insight into how these conditions are diagnosed, managed, and detected early through community screening programs and genetic counselling, underscoring the importance of awareness in reducing long term disease burden.
The campaign included awareness on several common blood disorders with a focus on introducing these conditions, their prevention methods, and the importance of early detection.
