College Standing Committees
Purpose:
To oversee the design, implementation, evaluation, and students’ assessment of the College’s educational programs to ensure their alignment with contemporary educational practices and national and international accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- To provide guidance on the curriculum structure, content, delivery and assessment to all involved in its delivery.
- To develop the policies and procedures related to medical student education and assessment.
- To continually review curricular content, learning objectives, delivery methods and assessment to ensure that they are aligned with overall intended educational outcomes.
- To periodically solicit feedback on the delivery, organization, integration and assessment of the curriculum components for improvement and enhancement.
- To organize workshops related to curriculum development, review and on students’ assessment.
- To study the need for and establish as required subcommittee/s to fulfill its responsibilities and nominate their members to the College Council.
- To identify areas for improvements and suggest means of achievement.
- To act on any other related matters that may be assigned to the Committee by the Dean.
- To periodically report to the College Council on the progress of the Committee work.
Purpose:
To ensure that the recruitment, awarding of academic titles and promotion processes for faculty and adjunct/joint staff at the College are conducted according to the established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- To review applications, shortlists candidates, and assess and recommend potential faculty members’ suitability for the college’s needs.
- To establish policies and procedures related to awarding of academic titles to adjunct/joint staff.
- To review, evaluate and recommend faculty members for promotion to higher academic titles.
- To review and recommend contract renewal or otherwise of current faculty.
- To identify areas for improvement and suggest means of achievement.
- To act on any other related matters that may be assigned to the Committee by the Dean.
- To periodically report to the College Council on the progress of the Committee work.
Purpose:
To provide guidance on conductance of research in the College and to ensure its compliance with the Omani culture/values and international ethical standards.
Responsibilities:
- To receive, evaluate and ethically approve submitted research proposals.
- To evaluate and approve funding of submitted research proposals.
- To monitor ethical compliance for approved projects until completion.
- To identify areas for improvement and suggest means of achievement.
- To act on any other related matters that may be assigned to the Committee by the Dean.
- To periodically report to the College Council on the progress of the Committee work.
Purpose:
To perpetually establish new and enforce existing links with college alumni and the community at large to facilitate achieving the college mission.
Responsibilities:
- To establish a long-lasting relationship with the College alumni.
- To organize activities and events to enhance and sustain the College interaction with the community and alumni.
- To identify areas for improvement and suggest means of achievement.
- To act on any other related matters that may be assigned to the Committee by the Dean.
- To periodically report to the College Council on the progress of the Committee work.
